Change your personality
If you want to make money outside of the employment machine, you cannot stay the same person that you are now.
There is such a thing as a successful personality.
Successful people speak a certain way, they act a certain way, they carry themselves in a specific way.
Not every successful person acts the same and some people are very successful even though they’re missing a few of these traits because they’re very strong in other areas of their life, but in general there are specific behaviors and personality traits that make a person successful.
You have to be able to influence people.
Your actions and behaviors are what have kept you where you currently are.
We are not in the real estate business, we are in the TRUST business.
If people like you, that helps, but it’s not what’s going to get you deals.
People have to TRUST YOU.
Trust is at an all time low. Maybe in eras past, people liking you was enough to get you a sale.
There weren't near as many advertisements.
There weren’t many salespeople trying to call them, message them, or come to their door.
And people got along with each other and might have trusted the average stranger they met.
But in the extremely competitive world we live in now, people just liking you and connecting with you is not enough anymore.
Most people are being bombarded with thousands of ads a day, and multiple salespeople trying to sell them something every week.
So the majority of the world’s reaction to you even trying to talk to them will be negative. They immediately try to put you into a box, so that they can turn their brain off and prevent themselves from being influenced by anybody outside of themselves and the people THEY TRUST.
So getting past this is hard. Being successful in sales, marketing, and business is not for the faint of heart.
You cannot act like the average 9-5er out drinking on the weekends and expect to win.
If you care what other people think of you and you let that affect your actions and behaviors you will keep losing.
You have to literally act against how you feel. If you just do what you feel like doing you’re gonna get the same results most people get which is nothing.
The marketplace doesn’t reward people who just do what’s comfortable.
Value = Money, and doing what’s comfortable isn’t valuable. Acting how most people act doesn’t get attention, it doesn’t create curiosity, it isn’t unique, it isn’t respected, it doesn’t get people excited, it doesn’t make you stand out in the marketplace, and therefore you will not be rewarded.
You’re rewarded for doing all of those things no one, or at least the 99%, aren’t willing to do.
If you can come to terms with that, and you’re actually willing to change who you are and act against what’s normal and against your emotions, then success becomes easy.
Whatever you feel in your gut, those actions you don’t feel like doing today, those, most of the time, are what you should be doing. That’s how you get to where you’re wanting to go.
